How to Calculate Volume of Staircase?

When you calculate volume of staircase it is difficult to calculate volume of staircase. In this article we have discussed about the calculation volume of staircase.

Calculate Volume of Staircase

Here are the image of staircase which we can use for data:

Staircase volume calculation

First Method:

Number of steps = height /riser

= 3/0.150 = 20 nos.

Horizontal length = no of steps x thread

= 20 x 0.250 = 5 m

Waist slab length = sqrt (Height2 x Horizontal length2)

Staircase waist slab

= sqrt (3×3 + 5×5)

= sqrt (34)

= 5.830951895 m

Second method to calculate volume of staircase:

You can calculate waist slab length using this method.

Waist slab volume calculation

One step length = sqrt (riser2 x thread2)

= sqrt (250×250 + 150×150)

= 0.2916 m

Waist length for 20 steps = 0.2916 x 20 = 5.83 m

Volume of waist slab = L x B x thickness

= 5.830 x 1.2 x 0.15

= 1.05 cumt

After waist slab, we calculate volume of step.

Volume of step = ½ x b x h x B (where B – width of step)

=1/2 x 0.25 x 0.150 x 1.2

= 0.0225 cumt

The 0.0225 is volume of one step for 20 steps,

Volume of 20 steps = 20 x 0.0225 = 0.45 cumt

Total volume of staircase = Volume of waist slab + Volume of steps

= 1.05 + 0.45

= 1.5 cumt
