How to Calculate Water Tank Capacity in Liters?

Step:1 – Volume of rectangular water tank:

Assume data:

  • Length of water tank – 900 mm
  • Width of water tank – 400 mm
  • Depth or height of water tank – 7000 mm

Volume of water Tank = Length x Width X depth

= 900/1000 x 400/1000 x 7000/1000  (To convert mm to meter divide value by 1000)

= 0.9 x 0.4 x 7

Volume of water Tank = 2.52 cumt

Step:2 – Calculate Rectangular Water Tank Capacity in Liters :

Convert water tank volume to liter.

To convert water tank volume cumt to liter, you need to multiply value by 1000

1 cumt = 1000 liters

Volume of water tank = 2.52 cumt

Water tank capacity in liters

= 2.52 x 1000

= 2520 liters

Final result,

Rectangular water tank with 900 mm x 400 mm x 7000 mm capacity is 2520 liter.

To calculate total volume of circular or cylindrical water tank is calculated by the multiplying area into height of water tank.

R – Radius of water tank

H – Height of cylindrical or circular water tank

Step:1 – Volume of circular water tank:

Assume data:

Diameter of circular tank – 1.50 m

Height – 1 m

To calculate radius = diameter/2 = 1.50/2 = 0.75 m

Volume of circular water tank

= πR2H

= 3.14 x 0.75 x 0.75 x 1

Volume of circular water tank = 1.77 cumt

Step:2 – Calculate cylindrical or circular Water Tank Capacity in Liters :

Convert circular water tank volume to liter.

To convert water tank volume cumt to liter, you need to multiply value by 1000

1 cumt = 1000 liters

Volume of water tank = 1.77 cumt

Cylindrical or circular Water tank capacity in liters = 1.77 x 1000 = 1770 liters

Result,

Circular water tank with 1.50 m diameter, 1 m height capacity is 1770 liter.
